The world’s first ever live Internet streaming of opera took place on 11th November 2010 when the Opening Night of Tosca by Opera Ireland was streamed live on the Internet in HD sound and vision from Dublin’s Gaiety theatre to audiences worldwide via platformireland.ie. Racine’s masterpiece of the French theatre – itself drawn from Euripides – and themes from the baroque score of Rameau’s operatic response to this mythic tale, have provided the springboard for a dynamic collaboration between writer Hilary Fannin and composer/musician Ellen Cranitch.
