About Still Point Productions and Platform Ireland
Jessica Fuller is founder and director of Still Point Productions Ltd. Through SPP, she has created Irelands first dedicated online Irish arts and culture channel, Platform Ireland, beta launched in December 2009.
2005-2007
Jessica has worked in the music industry, the arts sector, new media, film & television sectors and in music education as a creative producer and manager. In July 2005, Jessica established Still Point Productions with the aim of creating and producing arts and cultural content. On the strength of project proposals, she was accepted to participated in the IADT/Enterprise Ireland CREATE programme for creative industry that year. On realising that there was limited opportunity for presentation of quality arts content on traditional platforms, the next stage was to simply create on. But not just a platform for SPP content, instead, one that demonstrates the vast and magnificent array of work of the professional Irish arts and culture sector and for presentation not only to irish audiences but worldwide. And Platform Ireland was conceived. the next two years were spent on research.
2008
The Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Enterprise Board, provided match-funding to Still Point to undertake an initial feasibility study. Several arts organisations attended a session with still point to consider in principal the idea of Platform Ireland. Since then, with the go-ahead given, SPP has spent the last year developing a proto-type trial version of the site.
2009
In October 2009, the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism came on board as a funding partner for the trial period. The Department funding has been directed at appointing a team to deliver the trial project. The Trial will be undertaken for no more than twelve weeks.
If it is established that Platform Ireland has potential to be a viable initiative, SPP will establish Platform Ireland as its own entity in 2010 and the next stage of development will be implemented.
